Let me tell you a little bit about myself

Well, hello my quilty friends.  I guess I should properly introduce myself.  I mean you are trusting me with your quilty projects right!  Nothing is scarier than sending off something you invested time, money and love into.  It is like sending your child off to college and not knowing anything about what it going to happen to them or who is taking care of them.

Crafting has always been a creative outlet for me. Quilting definitely sparked a fire in my soul. I enjoy all steps of the process from putting pen to paper designing a pattern to curling up with a warm cup of coffee sewing on the binding.

Who is Aly?

That’s me! The owner of Aly Wilson Quilts.  I may be the sole quilter behind the magic; but it is a family operation.  My amazing husband, Shawn, of over a quarter of a century got the side job he never knew he wanted as my personal assistant and title of “Best Quilty Husband”.  The fact that he knows terms like “Fussy Cut” and can name off quilty designs without ever having sewn a stitch makes my heart happy.  Our team wouldn’t be complete without our amazing teenage daughter.  She likes to stay behind the scenes, pick out and place fabrics and help with laundry so I can balance life.  She is slowly starting to help me with the tech side of things which I am grateful for.   Our family is definitely not complete without of fur babies running around and living their best spoiled life.  My family is everything to me and I am grateful for them each and every day.

If running a household and a small quilty business wasn’t enough for me, then I should add that I am also a RN into the mix.  I have been a RN for almost two decades in one of the busiest emergency departments in my area.  Being able to care for people during some of their most vulnerable moments is something I truly value. It’s a job that’s challenging, humbling, and incredibly rewarding and it’s shaped a lot of who I am.

Don’t worry I am not all work and no play.  We are a huge travel and camping family.  Packing up our camper and hitting the road is one of our favorite things to do together. Unplugging from everyday life and spending time outdoors with campfires, fresh air, and slower mornings are some of my favorite things.  Nature, a warm cup of coffee and a good book helps you reset for the next busy week.

A few fun facts about me?
  • I am a coffee lover. Hot or cold…doesn’t matter to be, as long it has lots of caffeine and taste good!
  • I don’t like shoes. I don’t like buying them and I don’t like wearing them.
  • I am terrified of Chucky Cheese.  I will not step foot in there!! NOPE!!
  • I am a book lover.  I aim to read 75-100 books every year and normally hit my goal.
  • If I am not hording fabric, it is office supplies.  I love me some good notebooks, pens and highlighters.  I am a “Make a list of the list I need to make” girl.
  • My favorite movie of all time is “Willow”.  I could watch it every day and still watch it again the next.
  • Cooking is not a favorite activity of mine.  Now baking, that’s my jam.  I could live on cheesecake and cookies!

That’s me in a small nutshell.  Just a “Small business boss mom”.  I hope that you get a little inspiration from my journey along the way.  This space is a little reflection of my life—family, creativity, and the everyday moments in between. Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me. 💛
